Extra Hands

Someone in Your Corner.

If you’re an unpaid carer living in Edinburgh and aged 18 or over — or if the person you care for lives in Edinburgh — you may be eligible for our free 1-to-1 support service.

Carers can self refer to this service, be referred by local organisations or professionals as well as through the Edinburgh Carer Support Team. Once referred, you’ll be matched with your own named carer support worker who will take the time to understand your unique situation and provide support that’s genuinely tailored to you and your caring role.

You don’t have to do this alone — we’re here to help.

Meet Other Carers Who Understand

Caring can be an isolating and lonely experience until you reach out for support. Our free monthly Carer Support Group is a warm, welcoming space where you can meet other carers, share your experiences, and get the information you need, all at your own pace.

We meet on the first Thursday of every month. Please get in touch for further information.

Unpaid carers have a number of rights in Scotland. These are outlined in The Carers Scotland Act (2016) which became law in 2018. Click here for further information: https://www.carersnet.org/carersrights/

These rights are also summarised in a shorter document produced by the Scottish Government called the Carer Charter
